The Challenges of E Working - Howard Wilkinson

Here Howard reviews the individual and organisational issues surrounding working remotely and electronically. These issues include:

  • the degree of virtual working appropriate in developing circumstances
  • the challenge of interpersonal skills and self retraining         
  • the relationship issues surrounding teleworking, both domestic and professional
He summarises his experiences of over 4 years of developing and  maintaining new business, using new technology to facilitate change and sets out to illustrate the overriding requirement for applied 'emotional    intelligence', i.e. empathy and self awareness. Howard will also describe how the use of the Internet, e-mail, EDI, CD-ROM, video and audio conferencing, mobile communications, group-ware, and networking, all helps to bind together 9 diverse groups with at least 1400 contacts.

Basing Business and Marketing Strategies around eCommerce -
David Hood

David presents an e-commerce case study reviewing the launch and   success of Scotch Corner, a company that set out to have 95% of its business on the web with 5% terrestrial! This company set out defined objectives prior to establishing a quality presence on the Internet and   using some terrific technology that kept the traditional "feel" of a physical store. The ease of doing business in a virtual sense has led to new stores opening with specialised themes and product ranges - at little additional cost to Scotch Corner.

Howard Wilkinson Howard Wilkinson is the director of Howe Associates a virtual, project related organisation focusing on key areas such as taking direct responsibility for outsourced business development; assisting in the   commercialisation of new technology; and the application of new technology to marketing of products and services.  
David Hood  
David Hood, as Director of Strategy at Clearsight Strategy, is deeply involved in e-commerce issues, especially from a Marketing Strategy aspect, helping companies with modern marketing methods to develop E-commerce, Internet strategies and the creation of virtual companies. David is a founder member of CIMTech International and is a regular columnist for the 'Scottish Business Insider' and 'Marketing Business'. He is also running a series of nation wide seminars on the subject in conjunction with the Sunday Times Enterprise Network.
