Nameplant.com
‘s business idea has been to acquire domain names
representing people’s surnames. It is estimated that
these would represent a user population of 950M people.
Individuals are free to registered e-mail addresses, e.g.
firstname@surname.com. The revenue model is then to gain
advertising, ecommerce and sell premium services.
The Idea of Business:
PeopleBank was a 10 year established recruitment company
that launched on web 95. Candidate data held on relational
Db (£6M development). There was a MBO in 97 and then
re-funded in 99 by Carlton Interactive and Daily Mail,
with both providing positive contributions at Board level
for fast track idea development.

Lars-Odin
Mellemseter is a PhD-student in Management at the University of Oxford and is
co-founder of NamePlanet.com. He has previously worked as an
Internet and finance consultant in Norway. He holds an A.B. from
Harvard College and a diploma in economics from the University of
Cambridge.
NamePlanet.com
was founded in 1999 by three twenty-something Norwegians. The
company is currently located in Oslo, Norway and is in the process
of relocating to the UK. NamePlanet.com was incorporated in January
2000, and later secured seed funding from Venture Partners and Four
Seasons Venture.

player in the UK e-recruitment marketplace.
