| Summary |
Do you have Broadband?
Is it changing the way you work?
It is for me. I now use (and I'm developing myself) more and more
web based services. And I'm frustrated how little systems from
disparate organisations don't integrate. I want my printer when
its low on ink to scan the internet, find the best deal and
re-order. When I book a rail ticket I want the booking system to
talk to my accounting system, and my accounting system to talk to
the credit card system - instantly, done, finito!
Broadband enables a fully connected world. Where applications and
appliances (fridges**, photocopiers, cars, etc.) talk to suppliers
and manufacturer's systems to call for help, log failures, order
supplies, provide performance data - 24/7, always on, always
connected, always doing business.
Is your company prepared for the *real change* of the internet?
Come and find out how to prepare for the future - it's here now!
This
presentation to be addressed at a business level and to avoid
being over technical! The talk is based on a recent Keynote
presentation at the launch of Hampshire Broadband Forum.
The talk looks at some
of the less obvious benefits that
broadband brings, in the areas of its speed and the less-widely
appreciated fact that it is "always on". We then go on
to look at some of the technologies and applications that are just
around the corner that are enabled by a broadband connection.
Finally we look at
pervasive wireless networks and how that
changes things yet again. It is hoped that the talk will provoke plenty of questions and discussion.
