| Summary |
The use of technology
to underpin efficiency gains in purchasing, or to revolutionise
the purchasing process has evolved rapidly over the last 5 years.
Capabilities such as on-line catalogues, electronic communication
with suppliers, collaborating via the web on inventory, sales
orders and logistics, reverse auctions, sophisticated contract
management tools, e-tendering, procurement cards, advanced data
analytics and so on have met with varying degrees of acceptance
and success in both the private sector and the public sector. What
have been the factors influencing what an organisation does in
this space, what are the measures of success? Have public and
private sector business approached e-procurement in the same way,
and for the future are they heading in the same direction? |
